Located in the heart of Christchurch, The Happening Bar and Kitchen, brings elegance and sophistication to the city. Head Chef Scott Buckler’s Portuguese style signature dish, Francesinha, is a guest favourite. His modern Kiwi cuisine with a touch of European influence and fresh local ingredients has guests returning time and again. High Tea at The Happening is a feast for the senses. Traditional meets modern with Orange Scones, Devonshire Clotted Cream and Boysenberry Jam accompanied by Coconut Charcoal Buns, Akaroa Hot Smoked Salmon, BBQ Pulled Pork, Bacon Hock Terrine or Cookie Cup Cakes. Not to be outdone by the magic created in the kitchen, Front of House hosts the largest selection of tea in Christchurch – 53 blends of loose tea from just three different suppliers.
On visiting The Happening it comes as no surprise that owner, Radeeshan Munasinghe, values quality above all else. It was important to Radeeshan that his equipment complemented the premium, exclusive finish he has achieved throughout the venue so SKOPE refrigeration was the natural choice.
"I’ve been very impressed. SKOPE came highly recommended and I love that it is hard-wearing and durable."
Like all restaurant and bar operators, Radeeshan puts in long hours and the last thing he wants is to be slowed down by underperforming equipment or have business interrupted by a break down. “I’ll always stick with SKOPE because it does what’s expected and it doesn’t break down,” he says.
"The best thing about SKOPE is they care about their customer by caring about the product."
As anyone who has ever opened a new restaurant or bar knows, the stakes are high and the barriers to entry often even higher. With contractors, suppliers, staff, promotion and competitors to deal with the last thing you want to worry about is funding your commercial refrigeration. This is where SKOPE Funding really takes the pressure off. SKOPE Funding “just makes life easier,” says Radeeshan. When weighing up the options Radeeshen chose SKOPE Funding because:
"SKOPE Funding is a better deal especially because at the end of the day I’ll own my equipment and the after sales care I get at SKOPE I wouldn’t have got anywhere else."

“SKOPE is a very important part of the picture because we need concepts that work on many levels – our venues need to be labour-efficient and maintenance-efficient, and we need the confidence that the equipment we choose can be relied upon.”
